Local churches to host Ash Wednesday

service,

March 6

Several Palmyra churches are joining together for a community Ash Wednesday worship service at the Christian Church, Wednesday, March 6, at 7 p.m.

Pastor Roger Ricketts from First Presbyterian will be sharing the message.

For many Christians, Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, a time when Christians are more intentional in their personal devotional habits as Easter approaches.

As part of the services, ashes will be placed on the persons forehead.   The ashes remind Christians of three truths.

First, it is an acknownagement of our mortally, that we will not live forever on this earth.

Second it is a recognition of the fact that Christians have not lived up to the standards that God has placed on their lives.

Finally Ash Wednesday is a reminder of the good news of Jesus Christ, that despite the faults and failures of Christians, they are forgive in Jesus Christ.

There will also be an offering that will go to support the Palmyra Area Ministerial Alliance.

All are welcome to come and participate.
