Area families are invited to blast off with the first Vacation Bible School to land on Mars!
This year’s combined churches (First Christian Church of Palmyra, Palmyra United Methodist Church, and First Presbyterian of Palmyra) VBS, Mars and Beyond, will be held July 14-17.
Mars and Beyond VBS will help kids discover the wonders of God’s universe. They’ll become Voyagers on a journey through space, exploring where God’s power can take them.
This year’s VBS will be held at First Christian Church (FCC), located at 202 East Olive in Palmyra. The three churches will rotate each night to serve supper. Supper will be from 5:30 to 6 p.m. in the basement of FCC.
Following supper, Voyagers will then trek to the outpost on Mars (the sanctuary and other locations within the facility) -they’ll lift off to distant planets on special missions to collect power sources.
Along the way, they’ll learn how God walked with heroes of the Bible, and that God is always with them, too.
The adventure will include out-of-this-world fun, learning, and timeless Bible stories that inspire kids to give glory to God, who is able to do far beyond all that we could ask or imagine! VBS will end each night at 8 p.m.
The theme verse for Mars and Beyond is “Glory to God, who is able to do far beyond all that we could ask or imagine by his power at work within us.” —Ephesians 3:20, CEB
“We always enjoy getting to combine our resources for VBS,” said this year’s director, Holly Harris, from FCC. “Having three churches come together is always fun. We get to work closely with friends who attend a different church, sharing the talents God gave us with other congregations and community members is important.”
Everyone is invited to the VBS wrap-up program on Wednesday, July 17. Dinner will be served in FCC’s basement, from 5:30 to 6 p.m., with the program to follow.
Children ages pre-k through those going into fifth grede are encouraged to attend. Older VBS attendees will be divided into family groups (multi-aged groups) kindergarteners through anyone going into fifth grade.
Family groups will be lead by adults and teens. Pre-K will be lead by an adult and teens.
Registration has begun for this year’s VBS. For a registration form, contact Harris at 573-719-0445 or checkout the Facebook event page “FCC VBS 2019”.
