Dec. 10 marked another year the Hannibal Regional Auxiliary was able to support Hannibal Regional Healthcare System.

This year the auxiliary presented a check for over $165,000 to Hannibal Regional and a major portion of the funds completed their $500,000 pledge to the James E. Cary Cancer Center’s new linear accelerator.

Other projects funded by the auxiliary include scholarships for Hannibal Regional team members, coloring books, puppets, the Wish List Program, and much more.

In 2018 Hannibal Regional Auxiliary volunteers have given over 24,000 hours of service, which is the equivalent of more than $550,000 in service to Hannibal Regional.

Service is the heart of the auxiliary and its main purpose.

“Every accomplishment of the Auxiliary is a reflection of teamwork.  Our volunteers are passionate about their work and deeply rooted in the communities we serve,” said Lydia Ahrens, Hannibal Regional Auxiliary president.  “Most individuals giving their time to Hannibal Regional have had a personal experience in healthcare, either as a consumer or a caregiver, which has motivated them to share their talents with patients and families.

“I am so thankful for our team of volunteers and feel blessed to have the opportunity to work with them to improve resources and access to healthcare in our region.”

Those wishing to join can call the Hannibal Regional Auxiliary to do so.  There are several areas within Hannibal Regional Healthcare System where persons could volunteer time, including activities with patients, the James E. Cary Cancer Center, Hannibal Children’s Center, Judy’s Boutique gift shop and many more.
