Editor’s note: The following is the first in a series of stories covering the various proposed projects for completion using funding from Proposition 2.
Passage of Proposition 2 April 2, the Palmyra R-I School District’s proposed no-tax-increase bond issue would provide funding to update the high school ag building.
Superintendent Kirt Malone said revamping the ag building, which was built in 1980 and has not had major improvements since, is one of the last two projects identified in the district’s 15 year plan mapped out in 2007.
And, rather than just making cosmetic changes, plans are to revamp the inside to make it reflect changes in the school’s ag program.
“Our goal is to make sure the building last another 40 years or longer,” Malone said.
The building has some exterior issues after almost 40 years, including the need for some roof work, repair of water damage and replacement of doors and windows.
