A love of dancing propelled Tom and Judy Lemons to organize this Saturday’s Bicentennial Ball.

The long time Palmyra couple have been dancing for about 20 years and thought a ball would be a great way for the community to celebrate its 200th anniversary.

The Bicentennial Dance and Concert will be at the Palmyra American Legion building at 600 Short St. this Saturday.

The doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the music will be from 7 to 10 p.m.. Light snacks will be provided and a cash bar will be available.  No carry-ins please.

Suggested dress is formal, but dressy casual will be good.  The room will be decorated as an elegant park by designer, Sheila Scholl.

The event was such a popular idea, all the tickets available for it have already been sold.

The ball is also being held in conjunction with the American Legion’s 100th birthday, with Boots-Dickson Post 174 hosting an open house prior to the ball.
