The Palmyra City Council, during its regular meeting last Thursday, authorized the next step towards seeking grant funding to replace two bridges.
In addition, the council approved renewing employee health insurance coverage for the coming year, as well as some routine measures.
The council voted 4-0 in favor of authorizing the mayor to execute short form agreements with the Klingner & Associates P.C. for preliminary engineering reports for the upgrading the Main Cross/Bradley bridge and the Spring Street bridge.
Mayor Loren Graham said the reports were needed to include in an application for Community Development Block Grant funding for the two projects.
Graham said the city is receiving assistance from the Mark Twain Regional Council of Governments on the grant applications which need to be filed by the end of the year.
