The bridge inspection report presented at the Marion County Commission meeting wasn’t good news to the county, but it could be worse news for the Palmyra R-I School District.

Commissioners learned they have 30 days to lower the weight limit on bridge 1870015 on County Road 402 from it’s current 13 tons to five tons, a weight limit which will not allow buses to use the bridge.

Aaron Hugenberg with MoDOT presented his findings during Monday’s commission meeting, at which the commissioners also heard an update on BRO funding, heard an update on the Taylor bridge and met with leaders of the Learning Opportunities program.

According to Hugenberg, the bridge on County Road 402 has significant rusting and a section loss to the floor beams.

In addition, the southwest bearings have heavy cracking and deterioration.
