The Palmyra City Council took action to fix city hall water damage and maybe spruce up downtown for the bicentennial during the regular meeting last Thursday.

In addition, the council continued the process of updating the city’s building codes, while taking action to help fix a tight turn in and out of the Charlie Brown Industrial Park.

The council voted 4-0 in favor of awarding the bid for water damage repair work to the inside of city hall to the low bidder, Entrup Drywall & Painting of Quincy, Ill. at a cost of $19,100.

The council also voted 4-0 in favor of purchasing flower pots, flowers and brackets for hanging planters on downtown street light poles.
