Although they had no indication this was coming, the Marion County Commission learned last week they will need to take steps to repair another bridge or have to lower the weight limit on it.
The Marion County Commissioners reported they had received word MoDOT was recommending the lower the weight limit on a bridge on County Road 302 from 13 ton to seven ton, making it non-usable for school buses and farm equipment.
“We were never told there was an issue during the inspection in March,” said Highway Department Superintendent Mike Schaefer. “We were just told we might want to look at this sometime.”
