After 67 years of livestock marketing, the Browning family has announced new local owners to carry on the longtime tradition.

F & T Livestock Market, which has been owned by the Browning family since 1952, was recently purchased by Al and Katie Dames of Palmyra.

“We are excited for the next chapter of F & T Livestock Market,” said Jim Browning, who owned the business along with his brothers, John and Tim.

“Al is no stranger to the livestock market,” Jim said. “His dad, Ferdie, worked here for many years under Doc Womack and Dr. Robinson,” Jim said.

“We’ve watched Al grow up and eventually into a local cattleman. He’s been buying and selling cattle at our market for several years and has a good relationship with our buyers and sellers.”

“As we watched our kids grow up and pursue professions outside of the livestock marketing business we knew we had a challenge to find someone in the next generation to carry the market we are proud of.”

“Al’s a cattle producer himself and understands the importance of the local market to Tri-State cattlemen” said John Browning. “I’m looking forward to helping Al work the country. That’s the best way to build relationships in the market industry.”
