If the weather cooperates, the remainder of the work to be done on the sports complex at Palmyra High School will be getting underway soon and will cost the district less than anticipated..

The Palmyra R-I Board of Education approved contractors for the work as well as the bond underwriter during the board meeting last week, at which they also heard a legislative update, heard an update on the 2019-20 school year budget and accepted one resignation.

According to R-I Superintendent Kirt Malone work on the project will be getting underway as early as this spring with bids coming in about 15 percent below the district’s expectations.

Phase II of the athletic complex consists of installation of a digital scoreboard, grandstands and press box, lighting and fencing as well as sidewalks and entryways.

The board approved Whiston Construction of Canton, Mo. as the general contractor with Digital Scoreboards, Inc. for the construction and installation of the scoreboard and TIPS-USA Cooperative as the vendor for the grandstands and press box.
