Arrows will be flying at Palmyra’s Flower City Park April 26-28 during a major archery event that is expected to draw participants from all over the region.

One of 16 Rinehart R100 Shoot, billed as “the greatest archery shoot in the world” will be held in Palmyra Friday through Sunday and more than 200 archery enthusiasts are expected to take part.

The event is being hosted by the Smokey Hollow Archers, a local club led by Butch Herold, who said he was thrilled when he got the call from national organizers offering to move it to Palmyra this year.

“I’ve wanted to bring this to Palmyra for a long time,” Herold said, “This is a fantastic event.”

The event is held at venues around the country by Rinehart

Targets, an archery target manufacturer in Janesville, Wis.

And the targets used-100 of them--are one of the big attractions, ranging from life-size T-Rex’s and elephants to Sasquatch.

Participants will be following pre-determined course in Flower City Park from near the swimming pool down to Well Lake and back through a wooded area.

“It’s a really neat thing. It’s a family thing,” Herold said of the competitive event for all ages.
