The Palmyra City Council last Thursday gave the green light to begin voluntary annexation of an additional part of the Griesbaum subdivision on the southern city limits.

In addition, they okayed the police department’s purchase of a speed trailer and approved three more ordinances updating the city’s building codes.

The council voted 4-0 in favor of moving ahead with voluntary annexation requested by Glen and Martha Griesbaum for the additional section of the subdivision they are developing, extending it south to County Road 266.

The Griesbaums plan to have it zoned residential for one and two-family homes.

City Attorney Chase Hickman told the council that he has the annexation ordinance ready for council consideration, but also outlined the time table  for such action which includes a public hearing and time for public comment.
