Ragars & Tuleys

Jim and Betty Ragar (front) have passed the reigns of Ragar Realty to Wes and Chelsey Tuley (back).

A long-time Palmyra real estate business has changed hands, but is staying in the family.

Ragar Realty, which was started in 1978, has been passed on by Jim and Betty Ragar to Wes and Chelsey Tuley.

Jim Ragar is Wes Tuley’s great-uncle and all are glad the business will continue with new family blood.

“That has been the plan all along, so we’ve worked hard in accomplishing that goal,” said Wes Tuley, who, with his wife, took over Ragar Realty Nov. 20.

“I didn’t want to retire and leave an empty building on Main Street, so it really pleased me that he was excited about it,” Betty said. “They are both capable.”

Betty started her real estate career in Hannibal, but soon started her own office in Palmyra, where it has grown over the years.

She first worked out of a home across from Stuhlman Motors, but soon moved to a store front in the 300 block of Main Street before eventually moving to the current location at 204 S. Main.

Betty said she remembers having just six listings included in her first newspaper real estate ad, but it quickly grew to fill much of a newspaper page over the years.

“I love what I do, and real estate has been good to me over the years,” she said.
