Bradley Dean Curless, 60, Palmyra, Mo., passed away Friday, May 10, 2019, in his home.
Bradley was born April 19, 1959, in Hannibal, Mo., to Clifford M. and Lola M. Garner Curless. He was married to Debbie Beasley on Oct. 6, 2017, at Mission Hill Baptist Church in Palmyra. She survives.
Other survivors include children, Cora Kendrick (Chris), Shelbina, Mo.; Sara Cowden (Ben), O’Fallon, Mo.; and Jacob Curless (Dixie), Omaha, Neb.; step-children, Amber Gottman (Jeff), Palmyra; and Brandon Beasley (Faith), Ewing, Mo.; brothers, Darrell Curless (Sally), Williamsburg, Mo.; and Steve Curless, St. Helena, S.C.; sister, Donna Hetheriton, Palmyra; nine grandchildren, Phoebe, Gwendolyn, Taylor, Scarlet, Kolt, Gabbie, Grayson, Brayden and Allison.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one son, Elijah Guy Curless.
Bradley graduated from Monroe City High School and then attended the Police Academy for Law Enforcement.
He served in the United States Marine Corps for several years before becoming a deputy for Jefferson County. He then became the chief of police for LaGrange, Mo., for many years.
He later worked for Manchester Tank in Quincy, Ill. Most recently he opened a gunsmithing shop out of his home called 12th Star Armory.
Gunsmithing was one of many passions that Bradley pursued. He also loved participating in Civil War reenactments, mowing his property and deer, squirrel and rabbit hunting. He loved the outdoors as well as telling jokes, bluegrass music, church hymns and Civil War movies. His greatest pleasure was spending time with his grandchildren and family.
Bradley was a member of Mission Hill Baptist Church in Palmyra.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 15, at Mission Hill Baptist Church in Palmyra. Pastor Kent Lewis will officiate. Burial with full military rites by Boots-Dickson Post #174 will be in the Mission Hill Memorial Garden in Palmyra.
Pallbearers will be Justin Curless, Chris Kendrick, Ben Cowden, Jacob Curless, Nick Curless and Matt Hetheriton
Honorary Pallbearers will be Bob Bunfill and Jeff Blackford.
Visitation will be Tuesday May 14, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Mission Hill Baptist Church.
Memorials may be made to Mission Hill Baptist Church.
