E. Richard Pruett Jr., 59, Palmyra, Mo., passed away unexpectedly due to complications from a massive stroke on Sunday, Nov. 24, 2019, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill.
He was born Nov. 27, 1959, to Elvin Richard “Dick” Pruett Sr. and Faye Ann Waterman Pruett, Wyaconda, Mo. Both survive. He was married to Sandy Redd on Jan. 21, 1979, at Bethel Baptist Church in Palmyra. She survives.
Other survivors include his son, Allen Pruett, and wife, Brandi, LaGrange, Mo.; his daughter, Alissa Pruett, and her special friend, Jake Drebes, Palmyra; his son, Andrew Pruett, and wife, Meagan, Ashland, Mo.; two sisters, Linda Inman, Quincy, Ill.; and Barbie Pruett, Wyaconda, Mo.; and five grandchildren. Rich will also be fondly remembered by several nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members, close friends and his dearest “Mildred”.
Rich was a graduate of Wyaconda High School, class of 1977, and received his certificate in welding and diesel mechanics from Quincy Technical College in 1978.
He was previously a member of the Wyaconda Baptist Church as well as Bethel Baptist Church.
He was a former employee of Bleigh Construction, was a self-employed partner with Brad Kerley as a concrete finisher for 20 years and most recently was an over-the-road truck driver for Doyle Enterprises.
Rich was a patron member of the NRA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, canning, working on vehicles and spending time with family and friends. He will best be remembered for his strong work ethic, always providing a helping hand and years of mentorship for many.
Rich was an organ donor and, in his passing will be a participant in the Gift of Hope Program, providing his vital organs to those in need.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 3, at Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra. Rev. David Wilson and Rev. James Leezer will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Colt Doyle, David Juette, Darryl Ruffcorn, Billy Masterson, Scot Tipton and Jeremy Huff.
Honorary pallbearers will be Allen Pruett, Andrew Pruett, Ryan Lakey, Darren Ryals, Randy Redd and Jake Drebes.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, Dec. 2, at Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel.
