Laverne K. Crane, 71, Palmyra, Mo., passed away Thursday, May 23, 2019, at Evelyn’s House Hospice in Creve Coeur, Mo.

Laverne was born Dec. 10, 1947, in Shelbina, Mo., to Everett Lee and Bonnie Laverne Sherwood Crabtree. She was married to Dennis L. Crane on July 29, 1967, in Palmyra. He survives.

Other survivors include two children, son, Rusty Leon Crane (Stephanie), Philadelphia, Mo.; and daughter, Arla K. Crane, Palmyra; one uncle, Roger Sherwood, Shelbina, Mo.; two sisters-in-law, Dee Byard (Leroy) and Patsy Ragar (Arnold) both of Palmyra; four sisters, Barbara Sue Buckley, Kansas City, Mo.; Linda Donath, Wheeling, Mo.; Cindy Carroll (E.W.), Clarence, Mo.; and Sandy Beall, Maiden, N.C.; four grandchildren, Daryn and Rylan Crane, Kalyn Dowell, and Kaden Tepen-Crane.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dennis Lynn Crabtree; and her infant brother, Virgil Lee Crabtree.

Laverne was a homemaker. She previously also worked as a beautician and as a part-time mail carrier. She was a graduate of the Burlington Beauty Academy.

She also served as a Marion County election judge. 

Laverne enjoyed camping, gardening and spending time with her pet dogs. 

Her greatest joy was the moments she shared with her grandchildren. Times shared with family and friends were always special.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Shelbyville, Mo.

In accordance with Mrs. Crane’s wishes, there will be no visitation and the family will have a private service at a later date.

Arrangements for cremation are under the direction of Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra.
