Nina Lou Davis

Nina Lou Davis, 80, Palmyra, Mo., went home to be with the Lord Jan. 14, 2020, at her home in Palmyra.

Nina Lou Davis was born to Guymon and Tiny Hatcher on Jan. 23, 1939, shortly after her twin sister and best friend, Ina Ruth. They were welcomed into the family by their older brother, Gene. 

Nina was born and grew up in Shelbina, Mo. She graduated from Shelbina High School in 1958. Nina and Ina enjoyed pestering their brother and playing twin tricks on classmates. 

Following graduation, Nina was a homemaker for many years while raising her four children; Kay, Kris, Kim and Kevin. After her children were in school, she worked as a secretary.

On Nov. 20, 1976, Nina married Albert E. Davis (Jerry). She and her four children, Kay Sutter (Richard), Kris Sutter (Jim), Kim Wolff and Kevin Miles joined Jerry and his three daughters, Laura Cordray (Arlo), Annette Davis (Wray) and Kim Tuley to form the family they called the “Brady Bunch”.

Nina retired in 1981 so she could travel with her husband, Jerry. Nina loved music. 

Nina was a member of Mission Hill Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir. 

Nina enjoyed her weekly lunches with the girls, volunteering, playing bridge, bike riding, hiking, shopping with her sis, Ina, and spending time with her kids and grandkids.

Nina had 19 grandchildren, Brian Sutter, Caleb Sutter, Brittney Cordray Scott, Jimmy Sutter, Colby Sutter-Steffen, Shane Sutter, Bailey Detamore, Heidi Tuley, Cole Sutter, Zachary Sutter, Kelsey Tuley, Kayla Tuley, Hillary Scott, Levi Miles, Haley Keevan, Evie Miles, Alex Wolff, Aaron Wolff and Audrey Miles; and 27 great-grandchildren.

Nina was preceded in death by her husband and best friend, Albert “Jerry” Davis; her father; mother and father-in-law.

Funeral Services will be at 11:30 a.m., on Monday, Jan. 20, at Mission Hill Baptist Church in Palmyra. Pastor Kent Lewis will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Brian Sutter, Caleb Sutter, Jimmy Sutter, Shane Sutter, Cole Sutter,  Zachary Sutter, Levi Miles, Alex Wolff and Aaron Wolff.

Honorary pallbearers will be Brittney Cordray Scott, Colby Sutter-Steffen, Baily Detamore, Heidi Tuley, Kelsey Tuley, Kayla Tuley, Hillary Scott, Haley Keeven, Evie Miles and Audrey O’Brien.

A life celebration visitation will be held at Mission Hill Baptist Church from 9 to 11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 20.

Memorials may be made to Mission Hill Baptist Church or Shiloh’s Children’s Ranch.

Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra is in charge of the arrangements.
