Willard “Bill” Fessenden

Willard “Bill” Fessenden, 83, Palmyra, Mo., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2019, at his home in Palmyra.

Bill was born Sept. 6, 1936, in Taylor, Mo., to Hugh M. and Emma J. Wheelock Fessenden. He was married to Virginia Green on Oct. 31, 1960, in Hannibal, Mo. She survives.

Other survivors include his children, Joni Wheeler (John), Palmyra; and Michael Meyers (Kim), New Philadelphia, Ohio; grandchildren, Hannah Gottman (Jacob), Andy Glascock (Jess), Mandolin Welch (Jerrod), Terra Myers (Josh), Cody Meyers, Shiloe Gaconnet (Georgia), Shelbie Meyers, Misti Meyers, Amy Meyers, Adrienne Warnick and Tiffany Allensworth (John); 18 great-grandchildren; special niece Peggy Porter; nephews, nieces and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Maxine Fessenden; sister, Anne Wagner; brother, Hubert Fessenden; step-son, Terry Meyers; step-brother, Tom Johnson; step-sister, Phyllis Drescher; and granddaughter, Stacy Decker.

Bill spent many years working as an over-the-road truck driver and in the construction trade. 

He loved spending his free time golfing, fishing, and camping.

A memorial service will be held in his honor at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 7, at Little Union Baptist Church in Palmyra. Rev. Chris Combs and Brother Jake Gottman will officiate. Burial will be in Little Union Baptist Church Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Little Union Baptist Church, Little Union Baptist Church Cemetery or to Community Loving Care Hospice.

The family is being served by Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra.
