The Marion County R-II girls basketball team opened the season with a 60-39 loss at home to North Shelby last Tuesday.

The Lady Raiders got out to a 16-9 lead and went into halftime up by 20.

Delaney Straus sank six field goals and all four of her free throws to lead the Lady Mustangs with 16 points.

Marion County travels this week to Bevier, Thursday, and Mark Twain, Friday, before competing in the Monroe City Tournament the next week.

The sixth-seeded Lady Mustangs will open tournament play at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, against third-seeded Paris.
