The Marion County R-II girls basketball team won the consolation trophy at the Brashear Tournament Saturday with a 69-45 win over Novinger.
The Lady Mustangs (7-13) raced out to a 27-8 lead and were ahead by 25.
The Lady Mustangs advanced to the consolation final with a 69-31 win over Bevier, Friday.
Marion County led 27-4 after the first quarter and went into halftime with a 35-point edge.
The Lady Mustangs opened tournament play with a tough 53-51 overtime loss to the Kirksville junior varsity team.
Trailing by six at halftime, Marion County forged ahead with a 13-4 run to start the second half, before Kirksville drew even by the end of regulation.
Kirksville then out-scored the Lady Mustang 8-6 in overtime.
