Palmyra’s Corder Lehenbauer pitches against Elberry last Tuesday. The junior right-hander struck out 11 of the 12 batters he faced.


The PHS boys track and field team opened the 2019 season with a  first place finish at the Winfield Early Invitational last Monday.

They also competed well at an open meet at Monroe City, Thursday.

“I am really excited about this year’s team,” said Coach Shannon Haerr after the first week. 

“We are looking strong in each event. We have the speed and strength to be very successful this year. I am please at where we are at this point in the season.”

Palmyra scored 179 points at Winfield to edge Bowling Green, 173. Also competing were Winfield, 77, Clopton, 50, Louisiana, 35, and Elsberry, 13.

Palmyra won first place in 10 of the events.
