The PHS girls are seeded first in the upcoming Monroe City Tournament while the boys are seeded second.
The Lady Panthers may or may not open tournament play at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9 against eighth-seeded Louisiana, which was forced to forfeit its game at Palmyra last Monday due to a shortage of players.
A win or a bye would put the Lady Panthers in the semifinals to play at 7 p.m. Thursday against the winner of Monday’s quarterfinal between fourth-seeded South Shelby and fifth-seeded Mark Twain.
The other two girls’ quarterfinals Monday between second-seeded Monroe City and seventh-seeded Van-Far and third-seeded Paris and sixth-seeded Marion County.
The third place game is set for 8 p.m. Friday and the championship game 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
The Panthers will open the tournament at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday against seventh-seeded Louisiana.
The winner will advance to the semifinals and play at 5:30 p.m. Thursday against the winner of Tuesday’s quarterfinal between third-seeded Van-Far and sixth-seeded South Shelby.
The other two quarterfinals Monday feature top-seeded Monroe City against eighth-seeded Marion County and fourth-seeded Mark Twain against fifth-seeded Paris.
The third-place game is set for 5 p.m. Saturday, and the championship game at 8 p.m. Saturday.
Last year, the Panthers lost the tournament title game to Monroe City, while the girls took third place.
