The PHS girls tennis team enters 2019 competition with it’s own in-house competition.

“I am very excited to see what this tennis season brings,” said Coach Jessica Gottman. “With challenge matches starting this week, we have had some changes in the line up which will also light a little fire under some of the girls.

“With five girls having varsity experience, I hope to see a lot of success this year.”

There is also an infusion of new talent as well.

“We have six girls who are new to the team this year, and they have shown much improvement from camp to one week through practice,” Gottman said.

More excitement comes in the competing for a conference championship for the first time.

“We were able to join a conference this year, so that gives the girls something to work towards and will inspire them to work harder during the season.

The tennis team will be a part of the North Central Missouri Conference along with Boonville, Fulton, Hannibal, Kirksville and Marshall, schools that have been on the team’s schedule for some time now.

This year’s roster includes seniors Raegan Barnett, Amy Bryan, Hope Hudson, Delainy Kroeger and Reagan Lehenbauer; juniors Bridgette Bartz, Hailee Bergheger, Reese Gottman, Rylee Ingram, Bianca Perkins, and Tessa Richmond; sophomores McKenna Abbott, Jaynee Durst, Jansen Juette, Kaitlyn Rindom and Brooke Sullivan; and freshmen Ava Browning, Emmalee Drebes, Maura Gottman and Abby Mann.
