Marion County R-II’s Delaney Straus made school athletic history by winning four medals including three for first-place at the Class 1-2 Missouri Track & Field Championships in Jefferson City Friday and Saturday. 

Straus a freshman won first-place medals in the 800, 1,600 and 3,200 meters and second place in the 400 meters.

She won the 3,200 meters in a time of 11:55.71, the 1,600 meters in a time of 5:22.94, and the 800 meters in a time of 2:20.73.

She set a new 400 meter school record, 59.73, beating her own time, during the state preliminaries, before finishing second in the event.

Sadie Spratt, a senior, also competed at state and finished 11th in the triple jump and 12th in the 100 meter hurdles.
