Susan (Susie) Marie Powers Wimer, 65, formerly of Benbow, Mo., passed away peacefully after suffering from complications related to COVID 19, on Saturday, July 4, 2020, at 11:30 a.m. at Banner Boswell Hospital in Sun City, Ariz.
Susie was born to Donna Lee Bricker Powers and John Lloyd Powers on Nov. 13, 1954. She was raised in Benbow and was a graduate of North Shelby High School in 1972.
Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Susan always made her family her number one priority. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and was extremely proud of her family.
She taught her children to love God, each other and their neighbor. Her thoughtfulness, kind gestures and ability to encourage and support are a part of her legacy that will live on through those she impacted.
Devout prayer warrior, she was quick to offer encouragement, prayers and share scriptures, and always point others back towards God. When Susie said she was praying for you, you could count on that she was.
Susie is survived by her daughter, Tammy Smith Burgess (husband Jason), Peoria, Ariz.; son, Benjamin Walter Smith III (wife Suzy), Peoria; grandchildren, Payton Burgess, Peoria; Makayla Burgess, Tucson, Ariz.; Benjamin Walter Smith IV, Peoria; and Izabella Smith, Peoria. She is also survived by her sister, Karon Peer, Casa Grande, Ariz.; and her and loving companion, Dan McDonough, El Mirage, Ariz. as well as an aunt and many cousins.
Private services will be held at Christ Church of the Valley, in Peoria, on Wednesday, July 22, at 10 a.m. Additional private services will be held at the Liberty Cemetery, Liberty, Ill., on Saturday, Aug. 15, at 10 a.m.
