PHS cross country teams start season at Mexico
The PHS cross country teams began their season at the Mexico Invitational meet Saturday.
The girls team placed sixth out of nine teams, while the boys finished eighth out of 10.
The Lady Panthers scored 125 points to finish behind Centralia, 66, North Callaway, 76, Mexico, 82, and Harrisburg, 100, and ahead of Bowling Green, 148, St. Clair, 191, and Macon, 212.
The boys scored 205 points to finish behind Mexico, 46, Bowling Green, 55, Centralia, 77, St. Clair, 125, Salisbury, 127, Monroe City, 143, and North Callaway, 162, and ahead of Missouri Military Academy, 231, and Mark Twain, 235.
Freshman Laurin Sheputis led the way for the girls with a 13th place finish out of 91 runners, in her first varsity meet.
Also finishing for Palmyra were Lauren Reed, 20th, Bella Perkins, 29th, Lydia Szarka, 36th, Emily Malone, 54th, Lydia Gard, 66th, Chloe Hicks, 74th, Sydney Bond, 87th and Emma Watkins, 89th.
Casey Hathaway led the boys with a 29th place finish out of 87 runners and was followed by Caleb Juette, 39th, Jacob Barnes, 45th, Connor Bross, 49th, Talon Markley, 65th, Daniel Reid, 68th, and Christian Drebes, 87th.
Palmyra will host their home meet this Saturday at Flower City Park.
