Girls golf team takes third at Kirksville

The PHS girls golf team third took place at an 11-team tournament at Kirksville Tuesday.
But, the Lady Panthers shot a 415 to finish just four shots behind the first-place team from Brookfield.
Other schools competing were Kirksville, Macon, Mexico, Putnam County, Hannibal, Marceline, Schuyler County, Capital City and Fulton.
Mallory Comstock (96), Mallory Sublette (97) and Ella Goldinger (105) all shot career bests.
Maddie Jawad (118) and Taytum Parsons (119) also competed for Palmyra.
Palmyra also placed eighth out of 18 teams at the Sedalia Smith-Cotton Classic last Monday.
Comstock (98) and Sublette (100) led the team with Goldinger (114), Jawad (115) and Parsons (121) also competing.
Other schools at the tournament were Sedalia Smith-Cotton, Father Tolton, Rock Bridge, Rolla, St. Teresa’s Academy, Jefferson City, Jefferson City Helias, Columbia Hickman, Warrensburg, Chillicothe, Columbia Battle, Marshall, Brookfield, Capital City, and Butler.
Post-season assignments were made last Monday, and Palmyra was placed in Class 1, District 1 along with California, Centralia, Crocker, Dixon, Duchesne, Hallsville, Harrisburg, Lutheran South, Lutheran St. Charles, New Bloomfield, Paris, Senath-Hornersville, South Callaway and Villa Duchesne.
