Kay Lyon
Kay Lyon, 72, Palmyra, Mo., passed away Monday, Oct. 5, 2020, at Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Palmyra, Mo.
Kay was born Oct. 26, 1947, in Davenport, Iowa, to Francis Julian Runge and Nellie May Tipton. She was married to Elvin Lyon on May 29, 1971, in Fort Madison, Iowa. He preceded her in death on April 18, 2013.

Survivors include her children, Greg (Missy) Lyon, Palmyra; David (Christy) Lyon, Montgomery City, Mo.; and Corey (Thom) Jenkins, Kahoka, Mo.; and Missy Riney, Montrose, Iowa; one brother, Gary (Jo Rae) Runge, Galesburg, Ill.; grandchildren, Travis (Chant) Moss, Shelby Cordray, Kristyn (Ashton) Lynum Young, Cody (Casey) Fort, Emily Lyon, Levi Lyon and Alexis (Matthew) Maher, five great-grandchildren and two new arrivals on the way.
Kay was also preceded in death by her father; mother; brother, Steve Runge; sister, Donna Fillman; grandfather, Carson Wade Houser; and stepfather, Orville Wayne Hunter.
She was passionate about crafting of all kinds. Some of her favorites were scrap-booking, dolls and ceramic figurines.
She served on the board for the Clark County Mule Festival and was very active in the Eagle Fleet Camping Club. Kay enjoyed any opportunity to travel.
During her career, Kay served the community as a school bus driver and a certified nursing assistant.
Kay attended the Galesburg Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Kahoka.
Friends and family are invited to Kay’s life celebration at a visitation that will be from 4 to 5 p.m., on Friday Oct. 9, at Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra. The funeral service will begin at 5 p.m. with Pastor Dewayne Larenson officiating. Burial will be at Combs Cemetery in Luray, Mo.
Pallbearers will be Levi Lyon, Cody Fort, Ashton Lynum-Young, Matt Maher and Chris Cordray.
Memorials may be made to Community Loving Care Hospice.
