PHS tennis pair competes at state tournament

The PHS tennis team’s state qualifying doubles pair of Katy Rindom and Maura Gottman competed in Springfield Friday.

As Palmyra’s No. 1 doubles pair, Rindom and Gottman lost their first-round match Friday afternoon, 6-3, 6-3, to Hailey Colley and Avery Surber, of Westminster Christian Academy.

They then lost their second match to Megan Gullette and Glaire Southard of Notre Dame-Cape Girardeau, 2-6, 1-6.

The Westminster and Notre Dame pairs ended up facing each other in the fifth place match, with Notre Dame winning, 6-2, 6-0.

The two ended their season with a record of 16-4.
