Chamber seeking nominations for annual awards

The Palmyra Chamber of Commerce is asking for your nominations for Citizen of the Year, Educator of the Year and Volunteer of the Year!

“This year more than ever, we need to recognize exceptional community members for their service,” said Susan Berti, chamber executive assistant.

Nominations for Educator of the Year don’t have to be for a teacher but may be for any individual who positively guides youth or trains others: a scout leader, a church youth director or a bus driver for example.

Criteria for Citizen of the Year includes someone who has made a significant impact on their community and demonstractes excellence as a community leader.

Volunteer of the Year criteria includes someone who has demonstracted compassion and service to an organization or to a variety of volunteer activities and has helped inspire others to work together.

The volunteer work cannot be part of the nominees regular job description.

Criteria for Educator of the Year includes someone who has influenced or inspired people and uses engaging methods to teach or lead.

Complete nominating criteria and guidelines to help in writing the nomination letter are available at http://www.showmepalmyra.com/chamber.html. They are also available in print form at the Chamber office, the Palmyra Spectator, and City Hall.

Recipients will be announced in January 2021.

Nominations should be mailed to the Chamber office at P.O. Box 446, Palmyra, Mo. 63461 or emailed to palmyrachamber@gmail.com.

As in the past, the Palmyra Chamber Board of Directors will select the recipients for the Business Hall of Fame and the Paint Brush Award, the latter for a business that has improved its looks and added that “something extra” to the community.

The deadline for nominations is Tuesday, Dec. 1.
