Maple Lawn renewing Adopt-A-Resident program
Once again, Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Palmyra is renewing its Adopt-A-Resident program to help residents receive some Christmas cheer.
It’s a tradition for Maple Lawn staff to adopt residents for Christmas, and the program allows those from outside to join in, too.
“For Christmas, the Maple Lawn staff always enjoys adopting residents for Christmas. They love surprising them with a few things they like and may need,” said Alice Humphrey, the Maple Lawn activities supervisor.
“As you know things are a little different this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the holidays will not be the same, but we still make it a very Merry Christmas for all of them.”
Persons who would like to adopt a resident or donate a few items just need to let Maple Lawn know.
“It is more of a challenge to shop for items this year, so monetary donations are also accepted which will be used for the resident Christmas fund,” Humphrey said. “The residents were really blessed last year with the wonderful outpouring of gifts that were received through this program.”
Common items bought are bodywash, lotion, body spray, wrapped candy, knick knacks, cologne, socks, slipper socks, lip balm, search words books, markers, adult coloring books, blankets, small Pepsi, Sprite, Coca Cola and and wall hangings.
Adopt-A-Resident gifts may be left in the corridor of the front office at the main entrance of Maple Lawn. All donations should be delivered by Dec. 21.
“Thanks again for all of your love and support as we remain #MapleLawn Strong,” Humphrey said.
