Filing for April 6 election begins Dec. 15
Candidate filings for the April 6 General Election begin Tuesday, Dec. 15 and run through Jan. 19.
The elections include those for Palmyra mayor and city council, Palmyra R-I and Marion County R-II school boards, as well as the Marion County Emergency Services Board, the Marion County Nursing Home Board, the Palmyra Fire Protection Board the Marion County Ambulance District Board and the Palmyra Fire Protection District Board.
Mayor Loren Graham as well as council members Brock Fahy (Ward 1), Jeremy Warning (Ward 2) and Pam Behring (Ward 3), are up for election April 6.
The mayor and council members terms are for two years.
Persons wishing to file must do so at city hall during office hours starting Dec. 15 and continuing through Jan. 19.
Two board seats are up for election in both the Palmyra R-I and Marion County R-II school districts. The terms are for three years.
Up for election in the R-I District are Stacey Hoerr and Darin Redd. The R-II board seats to be contested are currently held by Judy Stratton and Jared Stewart.
Persons interested in filing must do so between Dec. 15 and Jan. 19 at the offices of the respective school districts.
There will be three Marion County Emergency Services Board members up for election in April.
The three are four-year terms and are for Eastern District, Western District and Marion County at large.
Those wishing to file for one of the offices may do so in person at Marion County Emergency Services, 3246 Highway 61, Hannibal, Mo., during normal business hours.
The Marion County Nursing Home District is now accepting applications of candidacy for one director each in Districts 1-4.
The offices in Districts 1 and 2 are three-year terms of office, commencing with the first meeting after April 6, 2021, and terminating after the April election 2024.
The offices in District 3 and 4 are two-year terms of office, commencing with the first meeting after April 6, and terminating after the April election in 2023.
District 1 consists of all of the 1st Ward of Hannibal (1W-01 and 1W-02). The portion of 2nd Ward designated as 2W-01. Mason Twp. Outside the city limits of Hannibal north of Minnow Branch near Hwy. 36 (1W-03).
District 2 includes Liberty Township.
District Three (3) boundaries are designated as: All of 2nd Ward 02, 3rd Ward 02, and 6th Ward 01 of Hannibal.
Candidates for Director of the Nursing Home District must be a citizen of the United States, resident taxpayer of the nursing home district, who has resided within the State of Missouri for one year next preceding the election and who is at least 24 years of age.
All interested candidates should file their Declaration of Candidacy with the Administrator of the Maple Lawn Nursing Home at 1410 West Line Street, Palmyra, Mo.
Filing begins at 8 a.m. Dec. 15, and will continue Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. except for the first and last day of filing,
Filing will not occur on the holidays: Dec. 25 and Jan.1. Filing will end Jan. 19, at 5 p.m.
The Marion County Ambulance District’s annual election for two members of the board of directors will be April 6.
Board members are elected for a period of three years and must reside within the sub-district they represent. Up for election are one board member each from:
Sub-District #2: Term to be effective from April 2021 and to continue to April 2024. This Sub-District’s area includes the second and sixth Wards of the city of Hannibal; and
Sub-District #6: Term to be effective from April 2021 and to continue to April 2024. This Sub District’s area includes the city of Philadelphia, West Ely, and rural Marion County.
Qualified persons wishing to become a candidate should contact the main office of Marion County Ambulance District, located at 142 Jaycee Dr. in Hannibal, Mo. The filing period is from Dec. 15 to Jan. 19.
There are two board positions up for election for the Palmyra Fire Protection District Board of Directors. Both are for six-year terms.
Filing is from Dec. 15 though Jan. 19.
Interested qualified persons may file by calling the Palmyra Fire Station at 573-769-3411 to set up an appointment to file. They may also file at the Palmyra Fire Station, 407 S. Main Street, Palmyra, Mo. 63461 prior the regular board meetings on Dec. 21, or Jan. 18, between the hours of 6 and 6:30 p.m.
