Donald L. Krekemeyer

Donald L. Krekemeyer, 81, Palmyra, Mo., passed away at 9:05 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 19, 2020, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill.

Donald was born March 14, 1939, in Washington, Mo., to Henry D. and Emma Pearl Schalk Krekemeyer. He was married to Mary Lee Hirner Krekemeyer on July 29, 1967, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Palmyra. She survives.

Other survivors include daughter, Sarah Beth Hill; son, Justin (Janet) Krekemeyer; brother, Richard Krekemeyer; sisters. Judy (the late Gary) Million; Jane (Jim) Church; grandchildren. Kaitlynn Marie Hill, Drake Alan Hill, Isaac Edward Krekemeyer and Noah John Krekemeyer; and numerous extended family members.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Joyce Dean Krekemeyer and Helen Bay.

Donald served in the United States Navy for two years on the USS Independence. 

He managed C&R Market in Palmyra for 40 years. 

He served as the park board president for 20 years and past president of the Chamber of Commerce and was a longtime member of Kiwanis Club and Knights of Columbus.

Donald loved playing golf, especially the Memorial Day weekend events. He enjoyed traveling and spending time on his farm, but most of all spending time with his family.

Services will be held by St. Joseph Catholic Church in Palmyra.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 26, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial and graveside memorial will be held at a later date.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m., Dec. 26, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Rosary will be at 9:45 a.m.

Memorials may be made to either St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Honor Flight.
