Spring Fling canceled again for this year

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and requirements and recommendations by various federal and state health agencies, The “Flower Children” team of the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life of Marion County has decided to cancel their 20th annual “Spring Fling,” which had been tentatively scheduled to be held Saturday, April 17, in Palmyra.

“The Flower Children would like to thank the American Legion Post #174 for working with us to try to reschedule Spring Fling and all of our supporters who have made Spring Fling such a fun and successful event over the past 19 years,” said Mark Bross. “We look forward to celebrating our big 20th Birthday Spring Fling Bash with you in 2022 on April 16.

“The Flower Children appreciate all of the support of the tri-state community and are exploring other fundraising ideas and opportunities.”

The team can be followed on Facebook (The Flower Children-Relay for Life) for more information and updates as well. One of those will be the annual Extrava’Gun”za Gun Raffle this summer with winners being drawn in November.

“We encourage everyone to follow the social distancing guidelines and health care recommendations in dealing with and fighting this pandemic,” Bross said.  “As ‘Relayers’ we can take the drive we have to fight cancer and use it to fight this pandemic as well.  Together, we will get through this.”
