Michael Ryan

Michael Ryan, 70, Philadelphia, Mo., passed away at 8:20 p.m., Monday, April 12, 2021, at his home in Philadelphia.

Michael was born Oct. 31, 1950, in Quincy, Ill., to Ollie Francis and Norma Lee Dosher Ryan. He was married to his wife, Ellen, on April 11, 1986 at their home in Philadelphia. The couple recently celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary. She survives.

Other survivors include his children, Robert (Serena) Ryan and Kris Liesen; step-daughter, Jackie (Michael) Erwin; and step-sons, John (Kim) Bock and Jeff Bock; brothers, Pat (Brenda) Ryan, Terry (Nancy) Ryan, Timothy Ryan and Bill (Marcia) Ryan;  grandchildren, Brigham Vonderhaar and fiance’, Bree, Nolan (Amber) Ryan, Ryan Liesen, Lucy Liesen, Brandy Houston, Starr (Anthony) Utley, Ariel Bock, Dustin (Rachel) Bock, Ashly Bock and Kiley Bock; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard Ryan; and a granddaughter, Lindsey Bock.

Michael worked at the Quincy Paper Mill in Quincy, Ill., for 31 1/2 years. He then worked as a truck driver for J.C. Potterfield until he retired. 

He loved to hunt, fish, and garden with his friends and family. Michael was a well known conversationalist.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, April 16, at Emerson Cemetery in Emerson, Mo. Pastor Dewayne Larenson will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Dustin Bock, Nolan Ryan, Brigham Vonderhaar, Darrel Niesen, Larry Kline, Michael Erwin and Gary Ryan.

Honorary pallbearers will be Clem Goodwin, Arlie Augspurg, Randy Crabill, Bobby Cunningham, Gary Drebenstedt and John Bock.

Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children in St. Louis.
