Five members of the PHS boys track and field team qualified for the state meet in eight events during the Class 2 Sectional meet in Monroe City Saturday.
The group will compete in the Class 2 championships this Friday at Jefferson City High School’s Atkins Field.
Athletes had to place in the top four to qualify for state.
Qualifying from Palmyra were:
Abe Haerr, first place in the high jump at five feet, 10.75 inches; second place in the 800 meters at 2:02.51; third place in the 1,600 meters at 4:39.66;
Weston King, second place in the discus at 148 feet, 11 inches and second place in the shot put at 45 feet, five inches;
Hayes Miller, second place in the 400 meters at 50.23 and fourth place in the 100 meters at 11.10;
the third place 4 x 400 meter relay team of Miller, Carson Hicks, Gideon Bogue and Haerr at 3:35.69; and
Hicks fourth place in the high jump at five feet, seven inches.
