The PHS Girls tennis team continues to be strong in numbers and talent as it goes into the 2021 season.
Coach Jessica Gottman has 24 players including three returning varsity players, two of whom qualified for state as a doubles pair last year.
“Our team should be very competitive this year for varsity and junior varsity,” Gottman said.
Senior, Katy Rindom and junior, Maura Gottman, hope to make a return trip to state and could be joined by senior, Jaynee Durst, who also played on varsity last year.
Also making the varsity squad this year so far is junior, Abbey Mann, but Gottman said the other two spots have yet to be determined.
“I have several girls who are battling for those final two,” Gottman said.
Rounding out the team are juniors, Ava Browning, Emmalee Drebes and Jeorgia O’Brien, sophomores, Ashlyn Akerson, Natalie Bartz, Ashley Bode, Kenzie Bollin, Jaymee Price-Brocksmith, Avery Compton, Maggie Keim, Hadlie Kroeger, Marina Meyer, Elizabeth Salo, Rilee Shrum, Lakeyn Smith and Taytum White, and freshmen, Ruby Comstock, Molly Gottman, Laura Noland and Devyn Spratt.
The Lady Panthers open the season Aug. 31 by hosting Moberly at 4:30 p.m.
