The PHS Panthers remained undefeated in conference play with a 23-6 win at home over Brookfield Friday.
Palmyra (2-2, 2-0 CCC) got an early 7-0 lead and extended it to 14 late in the third quarter before putting the game away with nine fourth quarter points.

Palmyra’s Hays Miller hauls in a pass down the side line during Friday’s game against Brookfield.
Quarterback, Colin Arch, threw for a touchdown and ran for another, and Landyn Smith caught the touchdown pass and kicked a 30-yard field goal, while Nolyn Richards ran for a touchdown.
The victory kept the Panthers in a first-place tie with their next opponent, Monroe City, for the Clarence Cannon Conference lead.
Early game frustration turned to sudden jubilation resulting from Palmyra’s first score of the game.
Having won the coin toss and deferring to Brookfield, Palmyra converted a game-opening on-side kick for the second time this season, only to give the ball right back with an interception on the third play from scrimmage.
Brookfield immediately returned the favor with a picked off a pass at the Bulldog 33.
But, Brookfield stole the momentum right back with a goal-line stand against the Panther offense on their own one.

Palmyra’s Christian Johnson stops a Brookfield ball carrier for a loss during Friday’s game.
Not to worry, however, as Palmyra intercepted a pass on the next play, and three plays later, Arch fired a 24-yard pass to Smith in the end
zone that put Palmyra up 7-0 at the 7:20 mark.
That scored held up until the 4:10 mark of the third quarter when Arch capped a 10-play, 61-yard drive with a one-yard touchdown plunge that put Palmyra up 14-0.
The Bulldogs cut Palmyra’s lead to eight midway through the fourth quarter when quareterback, Colton Parn, and wide receiver, Gambal Staddle hooked up for a 47-yard touchdown pass.
Palmyra answered right back though with a four-play, 60-yard drive that featured a 30-yard pass from Arch to Smith, a 24-yard run by Arch, and was capped by Richards’ one-yard touchdown plunge for a 20-6 lead with 7:19 left.
Smith capped the scoring with a 30-yard field goal, his first of the season with 5:43 left.
Palmyra had a balanced offensive attack that included 181 rushing yards and 140 through the air.
Arch completed nine of 20 passes for all 140 yards, a touchdown and one interception, and also led the ground attack with 11 yards on 20 carries.
Hayes Miller caught four passes for 86 yards, while Smith pulled in four passes for 34 yards.
Palmyra held the Bulldogs to 70 rushing yards for the entire game.
Forced to go to the air, Parn completed 11 of 19 passes for 173 of the 175 total yards through the air with one touchdown and two interceptions.
Smith and Arch caught the two interceptions for Palmyra.
Teagan Pope led Palmrya with eight tackles including 1.5 for losses. Brayden Madden had 5.5 tackles and Christian Johnson five.
Palmyra travels to Monroe City Friday for the annual Mayor’s Cup game.
Monroe City enters the contest 4-0 following their most recent victory, 44-6, over Centralia, the fourth time in a row the Panthers had scored at least 40 points.
Monroe City also has victories over South Shelby (48-8), Winfield (46-15) and St. Pius X (Festus) 42-14.
