The Lady Panther softball team received the second seed in the Class 2, District 5 Tournament to be played in Palmyra Wednesday through Saturday.
Palmyra (11-6) will open tournament play at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the quarter finals against Louisiana (2-17).
The winner will advance to the semifinals and play at 6:30 p.m. Thursday against the winer of Wednesday’s quarterfinal between third-seeded Highland (9-14) and sixth-seeded Mark Twain (8-15).
The winner of the other quarterfinal game Wednesday between fourth-seeded Clark County (9-14) and fifth-seeded South Shelby (10-15) will advance to the semifinals and play Thursday against top-seeded Monroe City (11-7) which received a first-round bye.
The championship game is set for 1 p.m. Saturday.
The district champion will advance to sectionals Wednesday, Oct. 20, and play the winner of District 6 consisting of Marceline (1), South Harrison (2), Putnam County (3), Milan (4), Gallatin (5), Trenton (6), Penny (7) and Brookfield (8).
The Class 2 semifinals and championship games will be played Oct. 29 and 30 at the Killian Softball Complex in Springfield.
