Boots-Dickson Post 174 American Legion Auxiliary continued a local tradition Sunday by hosting a veteran’s brick laying ceremony at the Marion County Courthouse in Palmyra. Under clear blue skies and warm temperatures nine two bricks were laid including one by Thomas Lockett, a U.S. Navy veteran (above). Other new bricks laid were: for Bernie Dwight Singleton, U.S. Army, World War II; William Dwight Singleton, U.S. Army, Vietnam; Harry D. House, U.S. Army, World War II; Donal Peuster, U.S. Army, Vietnam; Joseph Schutte, U.S. Army, Vietnam; Danny K. Meyer, U.S. Army, Vietnam; Eugene H. Hogan, U.S. Army,World War II; and William J. Patre, U.S. Air Force. This was the first year for the Auxiliary to conduct the program after taking it over from Palmyra Area Community Betterment.
