The PHS girls basketball team received the second seed in the 97th annual Monroe City Tournament, Dec. 6-11, while the boys were seeded fourth.
The Lady Panthers will open tournament play at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, against seventh-seeded Paris, and the boys will play at 6 p.m. Tuesday, against fifth-seeded South Shelby.
A win for the girls would advance them to the semifinals and play at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, against the winner of Tuesdays quarterfinal between third-seeded Marion County and sixth-seeded Mark Twain.
A win for the boys would advance them to a 7:30 p.m. Thursday semifinal game against the winner of Monday’s quarterfinal between first-seeded Monroe City and eighth-seeded Marion County.
The other girls quarterfinal games Monday feature top-seeded South Shelby against eighth-seeded Louisiana and fourth-seeded Highland against fifth-seeded Monroe City.
The other boys quarterfinal games Monday have second-seeded Highland playing seventh-seeded Paris and third-seeded Louisiana against sixth-seeded Mark Twain.
The girls title game is at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, and the boys championship game to follow.
