April election filing period begins Dec. 7

Filing begins next week for the April 2022 General Municipal Election.
Persons wishing to serve on the city council, school board or boards of directors for other political subdivisions can file for the election starting Tuesday, Dec. 7.
The filing period, which was shortened by the state legislature this past year, ends Tuesday, Dec. 28.
Voters will select a city council member from each of Palmyra’s three wards during the April 5 election.
Council seats up for election are currently held by Ellen Goodwin (Ward 1), Patrick Barnes (Ward 2) and Earl Meyers (Ward 3).
Also up for election will be two seats on the Palmyra R-I and Marion County R-II school boards.
Up for election in the R-1 district are seats currently held by Roth McElvain and Joe Knochel.
Persons interested in filing may do so during office hours at the district office located at the Palmyra High School.
Up for election in the R-II district are seats currently held by Beau Britt and Julie Straus.
Persons interested in filing may do so during office hours at the district office located at the Marion County R-II School in Philadelphia.
The Marion County Ambulance District will hold its annual election for the board of directors April 8.
Up for election are one director each for a three-year term for Sub-District No. 1, which includes Hannibal’s 1st Ward and West Ely Township, and Subdistrict No. 4, which includes Hannibal’s 5th Ward and Miller Township.
Qualified persons wishing to file may do so at the district office at 142 Jaycee Dr. in Hannibal.
