Panthers fall to QND but rally against Unity

The PHS varsity boys basketball team went 1-1 against Illinois teams last week falling at Quincy Notre Dame, Tuesday, before bouncing back for a 55-48, victory at Unity Friday.

The Panthers trailed by three at the half, and by four going into the final period when they went on an impressive 21-10 run to beat the Mustangs.
Bear Bock sank a three-pointer and scored seven of his team-high 13 points during the fourth-quarter rally, during which Tyler Banta contributed a three-pointer and five points and Alex Loman sank five of six free throws.

Banta ended up with 11 points, while Loman and Bronson Juette contributed 10 each.Macon Roberts and Brayden Shannon came off the bench to score five and three points respectively, while Adam Goodwin scored three.
The Panthers started their Illinois venture with a 50-30 loss at Quincy Notre Dame, Tuesday.
The Raiders jumped out to a 7-0 start, but the Panthers fought back and even took the lead, 12-11, in the second quarter.
But, QND took control from that point on, out-scoring Palmyra 39-18 the rest of the way.
Scoring for Palmyra were Bock, six, Loman, five, Goodwin, four, Jon Lundberg, four, Shannon, three, Banta, three, Carson Hicks, three, and Juette, two.
The Panthers were scheduled to finish 2021 by hosting Louisiana Monday. Results were not available for this issue.
The open the new year by competing in the Highland Tournament, Jan. 3-8 (see related article).
