The PHS varsity girls drew the top seed in the 79th annual Tony Lenzini Tournament in Palmyra Jan. 17-22, while the boys received the fourth seed.
The Lady Panthers (6-3) will open tournament play at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 17, when they take on eighth-seeded Van-Far.
The winner will advance to a semifinal game set for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, against the winner of Monday’s other girls quarterfinal between fourth-seeded Highland and fifth-seeded Mark Twain.
The other two girls quarterfinals will be played Tuesday and feature second-seeded Canton vs. seventh-seeded Monroe City, and third-seeded Clark County vs sixth-seeded Hannibal.
The third-place game is set for 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 21, and the championship game is at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22.
The Panthers (4-5) will open tournament play at 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 17 against fifth-seeded Canton.
The winner will advance to a semifinal game set for 9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19 against the winner of the other boys quarterfinal Monday between top-seeded Monroe City and eight-seeded Van-Far.
The other two boys quarterfinal games Tuesday, Jan. 18, feature second-seeded Highland vs. seventh Mark Twain and third-seeded Hannibal vs. sixth-seeded Clark County.
The boys third place game is at 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, and the championship game at 8 p.m. Saturday.
