PHS wrestlers place fourth at QND Tournament

The PHS boys wrestling team put together a strong performance to finish fourth out of 16 teams at the Quincy Notre Dame Tournament Saturday.
Palmyra had seven wrestlers finish in the top five, including Collin Arch and Luke Triplett who won titles, and scored 142.5 points to finish behind only Chatham, Jacksonville, and Kirkwood.
Arch (138) won all three of his matches including the title match by fall at 0:41 over Warsaw’s Evan Carel.
Triplett (220) also won all three of his matches including the title match by fall at 1:16 over Chatham’s Jaidyn Lee.
Also placing were:
Nolyn Richards (285) who went 3-1, finishing second after losing the title match by fall at 1:03 to Chatham’s Alex Hamrick;
Brayden Pillars (132) who went 3-1, winning his third place match by a 9-0 major decision over Quincy Senior High School’s Dylan Becker;
Jayden Sharrow (170) who went 2-2, losing his third-place match by fall at 5:50 to Chatham’s Justin Hay;
Audrin McElvain (120) who went 4-1, winning his fifth place match by fall at 1:07 over Jacksonville’s Alexis Seymour;
Daylen Stevens, who went 4-1, winning his fifth-place match by fall at 0:23 over Edwardsville’s Aiden Stamp; and
Luke Lawson (106) who went 3-2, winning his seventh-place match by fall at 2:14 over Riverton’s Anthony Campo.
The PHS wrestling teams also traveled to Kirksville last Tuesday where they were shut out by the host squad, 77-0.
Losing matches were:
Luke Lawson (106), by 16-1 technical fall at 3:50 to Jaden Crisp;
Audrin McElvain (120) by fall at 2:33 to Luke Cahalan;
Daylen Stevens (145) by fall at 1:56 to Prophet Krepps;
Ashton Hankins (152) by fall at 5:42 to Koan McAtee;
Jayden Sharrow (170) by fall at 0:52 to Jaden Ballinger;
Jose Juarez (195) by a 10-4 decision to Kingston Hanson; and
Nolyn Richards (285) by a 5-0 decision to Bryce Kertz.
Also at Kirksville, Palmyra lost, 60-18, to Mexico.
Winning matches were Lawson (106) by an 8-2 decision over Keegan Koons; and
Hankins (152) by a 10-7 decision to Sam Ortiz.
Losing their matches were McElvain (120) by fall at 1:23 to Ricardo Juarez;
Stevens (145) by fall at 1:45 to Keith Ransom; and
Sharrow (170) by fall at 0:42 to Jokiah Sewell.
In girls action at Kirksville, Anna Ragar (115) lost her match by fall at 2:33 to Mexico’s Kaylynn Pehle.
