The Marion County R-II girls basketball team last week earned a victory against Paris, but suffered their second loss to Scotland County this season.
The Lady Mustangs (16-4) lost to Scotland County (15-2), 57-38, Jan. 21, and last Monday’s home game was little different as Marion County fell, 58-35.
Scotland County jumped out to a 19-4 lead and went into halftime up 27-14 before outscoring the Lady Mustangs 31-21 the rest of the way.
Scoring for Marion County were Tristen Holt, nine, Olivia Wood, eight, Halle Keilholz, seven, Delaney Straus, six, and Riley Donath, five.
Scotland County senior Hannah Feeney lead all scorers with 21 points.
The Lady Mustangs returned to their winning ways with a 54-28 win at home over Paris, the next day.
Marion County lead by just three going into the second quarter when the Lady Mustangs went on a 19-9 run before out-scoring 22-9 in the second half.
Keilholz sank six three-pointers and scored a game-high 20 points while Straus hit six field goals and went five of eight from the line in contributing 17 points.
Also scoring were Madison Stewart, nine, Wood, six, and Grace Jensen-Page, two.
This week, the Lady Mustangs are competing in the Brashear Tournament.
