Two Marion County R-II students have been selected to attend the 2022 Missouri Girls State.

Natalie Nick and Tristen Holt will attend Missouri Girls State June 11-28 on the campus of Lindwood University, St. Charles, Mo.
Both girls are juniors at Marion County R-II High School in Philadelphia, and are being sponsored by the Boots-Dickson American Legion Auxiliary and HOMEBANK.
Nick is the daughter of Jennifer and Billy Nick, Maywood, Mo.
She is involved in cheerleading and basketball, and is vice-president of Key Club, secretary of Art Club, a member of Honor Society and FCA, secretary of FBLA, member of Varsity Club and is junior class president.
Nick volunteers at the Palmyra Recycling Center and has been Student of the Month twice in the past two years.
She said she is fascinated by the history of the United States government and is excited to have the opportunity to learn more through involvement in MGS.
Holt is the daughter of Jacqueline Holt, Maywood.
She is a member of cross country, softball, basketball and track and field teams, and participates in Student Council, FBLA, FCA and Varsity Club and is a member of National Honor Society.
Holt is vice-president of the junior class and has earned recognition for perfect attendance and A Honor Roll.
She also expresses a desire to attend MGS to learn more about the state and national government in order to be an educated voter.
The 80th session of Missouri Girls State involves young ladies in government elections, offices and activities.
The participants will attend classes and listen to speeches by prominent leaders from local, state and national government.
