The PHS varsity baseball team remained winless to start the season with a 12-6 loss at Elsberry last Tuesday.
The Panthers were also supposed to play Canton Thursday, but the game was rained out.
Elsberry out-hit the Panthers 13-9 in handing Palmyra its third-straight loss.
Palmyra scored a run in the top of the first on doubles by Alex Wilson and Landyn Smith, but Elsberry came back with four in the bottom of the inning and one in the second.
The Panthers batted around and took back the lead with a five-run third fueled by Smith’s double and singles by Hunter Wilson, Alex Loman, Adam Goodwin and Noland Richards along with three walks.
However, Elsberry took control of the game with three runs in the fourth and four in the fifth which the Panthers could not answer.
Hunter Wilson started on the mound and was relieved by Nolyn Richards and Alex Wilson.
Six of Elsberry’s runs were unearned thanks to three Panther errors.
The Panthers hope to get into the win column this week in the home openers this week against Quincy Notre Dame, Tuesday, and Quincy High School, Thursday.
