The Marion County R-II baseball team clobbered Bevier, 16-2, on the road last Monday.
The Mustangs scored two in the top of the first, and Bevier matched it in the bottom of the inning, but it was all Mustangs the rest of the way, scoring one in the second, four in the fourth, and two in the fifth before capping the game with a seven-run seventh.
The Mustangs out hit Bevier 14-3.
Offensive stars for Marion County were:
Spencer Whetstone, 3-for-4 with three runs scored, two RBI and two stolen bases;
Cooper Stotts, 3-for-4 with a double, three RBI, two runs scored and two stolen bases;
Root Cheney, 2-for-4 with two runs scored, 2 RBI and two stolen bsees; and
Joey Lagemann, 2-for-6 with three runs scored and three RBI.
Whetstone started on the mound and went 5.2 innings for the mound victory, giving up two unearned runs, three hits and three walks while striking out four.
Jared Stewart went the final 1.1 innings, giving up two walks while striking out one.
This week, the Mustangs host LaPlata and Silex, Tuesday before traveling to Van-Far Friday.
